Bring a door that has jumped its track back into line safely, and repair bent tracks, rollers and brackets.
A door that has come off its track is one of the more dangerous garage door problems. The sections may hang crooked, the cables may be slack and any attempt to run the door can make it worse. It often happens after a vehicle bumps the door, after a broken roller or when the track bends or loosens. We bring doors back into line safely and repair the cause.
We secure the door first, relieve the load safely and then inspect the tracks, brackets, rollers, hinges and cables. Bent track sections can often be straightened, but severe bends call for new track. We replace damaged rollers and hinges, reset the cables and test the door by hand before we use the opener. Finally we check the balance and the safety features so the door runs the way it should.
An off-track door can fall. We support it and relieve the load before we touch the tracks.
We check for bends, loose mounts and wear that let the door leave the track in the first place.
A broken roller or cracked hinge is a common cause, and we replace them as needed.
Cables can unwind or jump the drum. We reset or replace them and recheck the spring balance.
